D.F. Brown, the HISD 2008-09 Secondary Teacher of the Year, is the instructor for English 1301. Mr. Brown is a published poet, Viet Nam combat veteran and grandfather of six. As a member of the Challenge founding faculty, Mr. Brown is devoted to insuring the best education for his students. Educated in California, Mr. Brown is the author of Returning Fire, The Other Half of Everything and, most recently, Assuming Blue. His poems have appeared in numerous anthologies including Unaccustomed Mercy from Texas Tech University Press. When he is not reading or writing, Mr. Brown runs with his hounddog Suzy and shares a house in the Heights with his wife.
Mr. Brown is available for tutoring on Tuesdays and Thursdays after school from 3:30 to 4:30.
