Mrs. Goodman was born in Corpus Christi, Texas. She attending South Dakota School of Mines, then graduated from Texas A&M. She was a classroom teacher at Bellaire high school for 13 years, and taught English as well as journalism here at Challenge for 4 years. We have her to thank for creating our school newspaper.

She worked as a reporter for a newspaper and in public relations all over Texas before moving to Houston. Once she moved here, she tried to get a job at The Houston Post, but unfortunately it closed. Left without work, she pondered about what she truly enjoyed doing. She remembered all the times she had to interview high school students for her previous jobs, and how much she enjoyed it. She loved teenagers, reading, and school, so she went back to school to become a teacher. All her jobs in journalism convinced her that there were better ways to teach children how to write than how most teachers were doing it. She went to the University of Houston for her master's degree in education, and went to St. Thomas for her administration certificate.

When she isn't here at Challenge, she enjoys reading, cycling, swimming, weight lifting, foreign films, and live music. "I think Challenge students are the most interesting, creative, quirky, loving community of students around, and I love being here."
