Debate Team Continues to Shine
The mighty Challenge Debate Team went up against 150 other teams in a state-wide tournament and bought home the hardware again! Ernest Ortiz medaled with a speaker award in the Varsity division as did Markfirah Krueng and Zoe Ortiz in the Novice Division. 2 of the 5 teams (Caitlin Vu\ Alejandro Dolores and Markfirah Kreung\ Rachel Marchant) broke through to the Quarter Finals and then Semis winning trophies. Rachel and Markfirah trounced the last remaining team from Dallas and entered the final championship round against a very tough Madison team. In a 2-1 split decision, Challenge took second with one judge proclaiming that the round was the best he had seen in several tournaments.
Congratulations to all! All the after school and weekend hours that were sacrificed continue to pay off.
